Disabled Access
MAKING LIFE MORE ACCESSIBLE
Many businesses that provide goods and services to the public across
all sectors, should be now beginning to make any necessary chances
to their premises they think needed or following an access audit,
in order to provide easy access for people with disabilities.
The introduction of regulations associated within
the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 is a major tool in helping
towards a society where all disabled people can participate fully
as equal citizens. As well as making services more accessible for
all, this can only be beneficial for all businesses as a whole,
who are currently used by the
estimated 9 million disabled throughout the UK.
These measures aimed at ending discrimination, giving
rights to the disabled are being introduced gradually in order to
encourage service providers to act in advance and to help assist
them in preparation for their extended obligations once the new
legislation comes into force after 1st October 2004.
